Creative Development
Creativity isn't just about getting out the paints and aprons (although that can be a lot of fun). Creativity can be expressed in lots of different ways including music & dance, construction toys, messy play, drama, role play and through free play.
I take care to plan appropriate creative activities, including messy play, arts & crafts, music and dancing. Children are never forced to take part in planned activities, and are given the freedom to use planned activities as a "spring-board" for their own ideas. For example, if we're making a space rocket and a child wants to use the materials to make something else, that's fine. If we're making teddy bears and a child wants theirs to have 3 eyes and 6 legs, then that's not problem for me either. Creativity is all about freedom of expression.
